My Story: Fire in the Sky by Shirley Corlett
This is the diary of a boy called James who visited a very famous place which was considered to people as the eighth wonder of the world. The pink and white terraces were spectacular in Tarawera just before something that would make them even more famous happened...
The year was 1886 and business was booming in Tarawera. It was a place that only rich English people could visit but James was 'Kiwi'. It was because his papa worked for the newspaper and he was the artist. He had to go too the pink and white terraces and paint them. They had to go by horse carriage because cars didn't exist back then. It would've been a long and tiring trip too Tarawera. when they got there James was so exited. A few days later they went too mount Tarawera which was an extinct volcano, or was it? On the way there they saw a strange boat which was recognised to the tour guide as a Maori war canoe. but the problem was that a Maori war canoe hasn't been seen on the lake for years and years and years. It was explained as an omen of misfortune. ten days later mount Tarawera erupted and lots of people died.

Horrible Geography:Earth-Shattering Earthquakes
This is another really great book by Anita Generi that will shake your world! All you need to know about earthquakes and if you need to ask anything just ask the Sid the seismologist. It also tells you where all the shaky ground is and how the earthquakes occur. Did you know that the Richter scale only goes up to eight so they have to use a different type of measurement. In China about one hundred years ago there was a estimated 9.5!! This is a real cool horrible geography that I really recommend.

Geronimo Stilton:Paws off, Chedderface
This book is about a mouse called Geronimo Stilton. He is the famous publisher of the Rodents' Gazette. He is also the author of the book. There is a whole series of this book. At the start there are all these mice that are acting like they've met him before and everyone is acting strangely around him. But the thing is that he has never ever met them before. When he tries to explain but then even his sister thinks he's insane! They go to a performance and guess whose on the stage? That's right Geronimo Stilton! Completely the same as the real one and his sister and he goes on a wild goose chase trying catch him. This is a real good story for medium level readers.
